Tamarac-based retailer City Furniture paid $11.3 million for a store-construction site near Mall of the Millenia in Orlando. Fillings with the Orlando municipal government show that City Furniture plans to build a 120,000-square-foot store on the site between Vineland Road and Interstate 4. City Furniture is the Florida licensee of Ashley Furniture HomeStore.

The furniture retailer bought the Orlando site from UP Fieldgate Development, which also has sold land adjacent to the furniture-store site for the development of new Audi and Porsche auto dealerships. City Furniture also is planning construction of a new store Altamonte Springs, a northern suburb of Orlando. Eleven of City Furniture’s 16 locations are in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, according to its website. [Orlando Sentinel]Mike Seemuth
