While the Tupelo Furniture Market is open to only registered furniture buyers and retailers, the Furniture, Gifts and Home Accessories Show in Building I at the market is open to the public.
And with today and tomorrow left, the market reminds shoppers that they have a chance to give back to their favorite schools.
From a story we wrote earlier , here are the details:
The market’s Furniture, Gifts and Home Accessories show will serve as an opportunity for members of the community to donate school supplies and will help one school from each district win $1,500.
Anyone who donates school supplies will be entered in a drawing to win a recliner from LQ Furniture.
Those who attend the Furniture, Gifts and Home Accessories show can indicate at the registration table which school they are affiliated with, which will help that school’s chances of winning the prize money.
When the show ends, the school from each district that had the most people attend will be awarded $1,500 to be used as they choose.
The school from each district with the second-most people will receive $500.
Attendees do not have to make a purchase for their visit to count for their school.
“All they have to do is tell us, ‘I’m with this school’ or ‘I’m with that school,’” Seddon said. “There’s no cost for entry into this event.”
Seddon said he hopes parents and supporters of local school children will turn out.
“I really want people to know this is happening and that they should come out and support the schools,” Seddon said.
In addition to the school supply drive and giveaway, teachers and school employees who attend the show will receive a free goodie bag.
The show is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m today and Sunday.
A back-to-school party was held Wednesday complete with live entertainment and refreshments.
