Lightning strike sparks fire in Jefferson County furniture shop – WJAC Johnstown

REYNOLDSVILLE – A fire caused by a lightning strike at a local furniture store in Jefferson County caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, officials said.

The fire started at 5:26 p.m. at Sinktown Furniture, an Amish custom kitchen shop in Reynoldsville. Officials said a lightning strike started the fire and a cow was also hit by lightning.

Officials said the fire was contained to the attic, and there was also water damage to the building.

There were no injuries reported, but the estimated cost of damages was $100,000 due the water and custom machinery damage.
