Merion Village furniture maker moving to Clintonville location – Columbus Dispatch

Custom furniture maker T.Y. Fine Furniture has outgrown its Merion Village showroom and is set
to move in January to a structure that once housed the Clintonville library.

At more than 7,000 square feet, the Clintonville location, at 4455 N. High St., is quadruple the
size of T.Y. Fine Furniture’s 1,500-square-foot location at 106 E. Moler St., said Tarik Yousef,
founder and owner.

“Merion Village has been a wonderful location for us, but we have outgrown our limited space
there,” Yousef said in an email. “Our customers seek a variety of products, and our new showroom
will allow us to display more wood furniture and the other natural products we are known for. We
also wanted to be more centrally located, so a move to Clintonville’s healthy business climate is
perfect for us.”

Yousef launched the business in 2010 as an online operation, then opened the Merion Village
showroom at Moler and S. 4th streets in 2014.

Yousef makes all the furniture by hand with the help of an assistant, using nothing but hardwood
from southeastern Ohio. In addition to its own handmade furniture, T.Y. Fine Furniture sells
Naturepedic and Savvyrest mattresses, leather recliners and rockers, and Inada massage chairs.

The new, larger location will allow Yousef to hire additional craftsmen to keep up with the
increased demand for custom-made furniture, he said.

Even so, he intends to update the structure with high-efficiency heating and cooling systems,
windows, roofing, insulation and lighting in order to gain the U.S. Green Building Council’s
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.

Yousef also intends to register the structure on the National Registry of Historic Places.

While Yousef will move the shop to Clintonville, he will continue to own the Merion Village
structure housing the original location of the business and is considering various options for its
