Colorado-based Appliance Factory plans to open its first store outside of Colorado in the next few weeks in the Sun Center shopping center on W. Dublin-Granville Road near Sawmill Road on the Northwest Side.

Columbus-based real estate organization Casto recently leased the 37,000-square-foot store to the appliance retailer.

Appliance Factory is the nation’s 28th largest independent appliance retailer and carries such brands as GE, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Maytag, LG, Samsung, Bosch and Electrolux. In addition to those brands, Appliance Factory also offers specialty products for custom kitchen designs including Fisher & Paykel, Jenn-Air, Viking and AGA, among others.

“We’re opening up in Columbus to fill the void left by h.h. gregg,” said Chuck Ewing, Appliance Factory’s owner and CEO, in a statement. Ewing started the company in 1985 from his garage in Denver and grew it into a business employing nearly 500 people.

The retailer offers “legitimate savings of 30 percent to 60 percent” on its merchandise, Ewing said.

Earlier this year, h.h. gregg announced plans to close retail stores including its space at Sun Center.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Appliance Factory to Sun Center and the Columbus market,” said Paul Lukeman, partner at Casto, in a statement. “As their first location outside of the state of Colorado, and a 37,000-square-foot flagship store at that, we believe that they will be a fantastic addition to an already strong tenant line up at Sun Center.”

Sun Center already includes outdoor outfitter REI, which opened its second store in the Columbus area in 2014 in the shopping center.
