Norway Names Soreide New Foreign Minister in Cabinet Shuffle – Bloomberg

Norway appointed Ine Eriksen Soreide foreign minister in a cabinet reshuffle after Prime Minister Erna Solberg was re-elected last month.

Soreide, who was previously defense minister, replaces Borge Brende who’s leaving to become president of the World Economic Forum, the government announced on Friday in Oslo.

Frank Bakke-Jensen, the current EEA and EU affairs minister, will take over at the defense ministry. Marit Berger Rosland, now a state secretary at the foreign ministry, will step into the role as EU minister.

Soreide, 41, is a Conservative party member and had served as defense minister since 2013.
